Zoe Young and son, Salem Zoë Young creates whimsical watercolor and ink illustrations using vibrant colors and details with a twist of humor. She loves the challenge of developing the story of each painting.

Zoë starts with a small idea or even a simple phrase and imagines all the images that could play along with the story as she sketches. She enjoys creating art that shows something out of place, something that makes you laugh and wonder at the combination. Zoë often uses animals because they are so much more animated and wonderful to paint. The watercolors she uses are liquid and provide intense colors, which give her paintings, their whimsical feel.

Zoë enjoys spending hours adding entertaining details inside each painting. Zoë is a children's book illustrator, and sells her artwork at art festivals and at galleries. She also does commission artwork, posters and a line of cards that is distributed nationally. Zoë lives in the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend, Washington, with her 5 year old son Salem, who often appears in her paintings.
